All-Asian American Woman's Forum

let's talk about sex.

Quick talk, woman to woman...

Sex is a part of life, but learning about your sexuality and how to keep yourself safe requires honest, uninhibited conversation. Navigating sexuality is incredibly difficult to do alone, but it's even harder when conversations on sex are stigmatized, usually by cultural norms and expectations. This stigmatization makes it difficult to learn about, seek out, and utilize the healthcare resources needed to stay healthy.

It's no secret that Middle Eastern and North African (MENA), South Asian, and East Asian families have stigmatized sexual activity at a young age, especially for women. In fact, MENA, South Asian, and East Asian families score among the lowest in having open conversations about sexuality, with only 24% of Asian American women reporting having had a conversation about contraception with their mothers before going to college, 17% of women had conversations about abortion with their mothers, and 12% had conversations about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

So, here's a space created for you and all Asian-American femmes, women, and nonbinary folks to learn about what resources are available to you, learn from the stories of others, and join a community that works to empower all women to make informed decisions about their health.
